The four pillars of prosthodontic care include retention, stability, support and esthetics. These principles play a major role in fabrication of complete denture prosthodontics. Complete dentures occlusion depends on the support it receives from the underlying hard and soft tissues. Balanced occlusion consists of definitive arrangement of the teeth in harmony with the mandibular movements.
This case report describes the fabrication of complete dentures using the bilateral balanced occlusal scheme for increased stability of the complete dentures.
* Bilateral balanced occlusion helps in seating of the denture in a more stable position during the arc of closure.
* Bilateral balanced occlusion is significant during activities like swallowing saliva, closure to re-seat the denture.
* Bilateral balanced occlusion does not upset the normal static, stable and retentive qualities of the complete denture.
