JOHN KOIS: Dr John Kois received his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine and Certificate in Periodontal Prosthodontics with a M.S.D. degree from the University of Washington, School of Dentistry.
He maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics in Tacoma and Seattle and is Affiliate Professor in the Graduate Restorative Program at the University of Washington. Dr Kois continues to lecture nationally and internationally, is a reviewer for many journals and is the co-Editor in Chief for The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry. Dr Kois is the recipient of the 2002 Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from both the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Additionally, he is the recipient of the 2014 Dr Thaddeus V. Weclew Award, which is presented annually to a dedicated educator who embodies the spirit of comprehensive dental care. He is the past President of both the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and a member of numerous other professional organizations. In addition, he continues to work with restorative dentists at the Kois Center, a didactic and clinical teaching program.
JOSEPH KAN: Dr Joseph Kan completed training from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He is a Professor and maintains a surgical and prosthetic practice.
He is on the Editorial Board of The International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, and The International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Kan’s honors include the 1997 Best Research Award from the Academy of Osseointegration and 2003 Judson Hinckey Award from the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. He has published over 90 reference articles and chapters with emphasis on interdisciplinary treatment planning, periodontal tissue management, and immediate tooth replacement concepts.
ISTVAN URBAN: Dr Istvan Urban received his DMD degree and subsequently his MD degree from Semmelweis University School of Medicine and Dentistry (Budapest, Hungary) in 1991 and 1996.
He completed a full time program in oral surgery at St. Istvan Hospital in Budapest, Hungary (1992-1996). He completed his internship program in Periodontics at UCLA. After he graduated from the Fellowship Program (1999-2000) in Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California, he was appointed assistant professor the following year. Dr Urban teaches implant dentistry in the graduate program at Loma Linda University. He is licensed in the state of California (USA) and has a private practice in Budapest, Hungary.
Dr Urban received his PhD degree in Periodontology in 2012 at the University of Szeged, Hungary. He is currently an honorary professor at the University of Szeged. Dr Urban is a board member of the Osteology Foundation and has published scientific articles and text book chapters on bone regeneration and soft tissue reconstructive surgery around dental implants. Recently, Dr Urban has become an adjunct clinical associate professor at the Department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan.
